It is the late 18th century (1700's). Due to the recent success of the American Revolution, a revolution has erupted in France as well. You are a French citizen, and do not want to live in all out chaos (Hobbes' state of nature). You decide you will seize power and help stabilize France. In order to do this, you must write a pamphlet to alert your fellow citizens as to why you are the ideal candidate for the job. This pamphlet must include the following:
A) A list of at least two (2) current problems you see in France
- One (1) solution that you will offer to each of these problems
B) A list of at least one (1) change you will implement in the government
- Each change must be supported by one of the enlightenment thinkers
C)Why you are better suited to lead than King Louis XVI, Robespierre, and Napoleon
You must choose at least 1 of these 3 leaders
For each leader you choose, you must include:
- Short Biographical information
- One quote and reflection of what it means about that person
- One (1) interesting fun fact about person
- One (1) paragraph that explains why you are a better leader than them
D) At least two (2) pictures that represent your leadership qualities and a couple sentences to explain each picture

ReplyDelete- One (1) solution that you will offer to each of these problems
Two current problems in France are that the government is very inconsistent and that the poor are under-represented.
A solution to the inconsistent government is to get a strong new leader who can actually make decisions and stick with them unlike Louis XVI.
A solution to the unfair representation is to give representatives to the different groups based on the number of people in the different groups. This will help to balance out the power between the rich and poor.
B) A list of at least one (1) change you will implement in the government

One change I would make in the government would be to use more of John Lockes ideas to create a government where the people can decide about what to do for different issues. I would also use Montesquieu’s ideas so that power is checked, and no one person has too much.

I am better suited to lead France than Robespierre, because Robespierre had very controlling views, and although he tried to make a better country, he always believed he was right. If anyone disagreed with him, he would just kill them with the guillotine instead of listening to their opinions. This led to a great fear in France. One interesting fact about Robespierre is that after a while, his enemies decided to put him on trial, and eventually he was killed by the guillotine, the same way he killed all his enemies.
If I were leader, I wouldn’t kill people just for disagreeing with me, instead I would listen and try to find a solution that everyone could live with. This would prevent unnecessary fear and uncertainty in the government.

This picture shows how I would stick with my decisions so that the government would be more consistant.

Robespierre promised to be a great leader, he said he would give people more rights. Well we had power before Robespierre, We had the power to put him into control. He abused this power and has given us no rights. All he has done was take are power. When Robespierre thinks there is a threat he puts them to the guillotine, when he doesn’t like you he puts you to the guillotine. Robespierre has lied to us but ultimately he takes advantage of the power we gave him and the rights we once had. We need to stick up for our selves. If I were put into power I would end Robespierre! Everyone would share their ideas and the best plan for everyone as a whole would be the law. Put me into power to rid our country of the guillotine and restore are rights.

Mr. Z, I'm not sure you will get this in time..but it won't let me post a comment or a new blog. I'm just going to print it out and hand it in tomorrow. Okay bye!
ReplyDeleteB)With Robespierre in power he doesn't care What the people think and for that reason he is wrong! If I were in power I would listen to everyones ideas so things got done farly. I believe that people are naturaly good and don't need a dictatership to maintain stability. Just as John Locke has stated. The way government should be run is through the people and not by leaders that abuse their power like Robespierre.

ReplyDeleteThis quote is an example of how things should be lead in France however Robespierre since he has gained power has gone against these views. Robespierre has taken our rights and freedoms! This quote says everyone is equal and that not one person has the right to harm you! But Robespierre kills are family members and friends and doesn't even treat us equal.
Robespierre was a great leader in the sence he maintaind stability. However Roberpierre had know way to fix his issues, instead of banishing them, putting them in jail, or talking things out, Robespierre killed them with the guillotine! And some how thought he was killing everyone to help the poeple. As a rules to treat your people with such little respect is mean! But if I were the ruler of france I would find a way to talk things out or solve with a civil manner, because no poeple of France should be harmed over a small dispute. I am much more suited to be the ruler of France, please put me into power so I can restore you rights and rid France of this dictator.
MY part D is under HOME and not the FRENCH REVOLUTION!!! sorry... i'm tired!

D) Part 1: This Image shows that not only are I a leader but I am a leader of the people. That is why this image is caring the city because the leader is there to serve just as I am:)
Part 2: This image shows that everyone is equal! If you are small, have soft fur, black fur, tan fur, or even spots we are all equal. I also believe everyone is equal and I would make sure that the laws do not harm the poor and instead we as a empire will come together and help one another so we can be greater as a whole just as these cats did they helped each other out!
